Stormin’ Norman triplets grow to new heights, huge, hungry brothers lead Prince of Wales rugby

VANCOUVER — If Hollywood ever gets around to shooting a re-make of the 1977 hockey classic Slap Shot, the casting call needs to come north to the classrooms, hallways and playing fields of Vancouver’s Prince of Wales Secondary School.
That’s because if you’re looking for three actors to play the roles of the movie’s hockey-playing Hanson brothers, there would be none better-suited than real-life Grade 11 triplets Broden, Kael and Dace Norman.

David Milne passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Harmony Court, Burnaby BC. Born in Burnaby in 1935 he was the youngest of 5 children and is survived by his sister Ellen, her children and grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, his son Bob and daughter Susan and grandchildren, Adam, Samantha, Nathan, Elyse.
Dave spent his youth growing up in a variety of sporting activities and very quickly excelled in many areas. Playing Basketball for UBC, semi pro baseball, hockey, wrestling and finally settling into an infamous rugby career. He will be most missed by the members of the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club, players, coaches, alumni, and the community that he has been an active part of for over 60 years.
Dave was a spectacular rugby player from the 1960s and 70s who played for BC and Canada. A founding member of the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. He was a public school teacher who worked many years at Burnaby South Secondary, he was a volunteer high school rugby, basketball and wrestling coach and coach of the 3rd and 4th division men’s teams.
We would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Harmony Court Care facility for their care and attention during these last few years.
In lieu of any flowers or memorials Dave would love to see donations made to the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club.

VANCOUVER — B.C. high school football has its own championship-game television deal, a featured venue for its finals at B.C. Place Stadium, and a key corporate sponsor in Subway.
B.C. boys high school basketball has brought all four tiers of its Telus-sponsored provincial championship tournament to its new home at the Langley Events where its crowds are on the rise.
B.C. high school rugby isn’t blind to the success of its fall- and winter-sport cousins. In fact, the B.C. Secondary Schools Rugby Union isn’t shy to admit that it has some catching up to do in the areas of self-promotion.

VANCOUVER — B.C. boys high school rugby has finally addressed the elephant in the room.
Look back at its provincial tournament results over the past decade-plus at its highest triple-A tier, and two schools have dominated the proceedings to such an extent that its annual title tilt had become the most anti-climactic event on the entire B.C. championship schedule.
