British Columbia Secondary Schools Rugby Union

Welcome to the British Columbia Secondary Schools Rugby Union website.  Our organization is committed to promoting the game of rugby as well as improving the standard of play within its member schools throughout the province.  It is dedicated to fostering sportsmanship and fair play among its athletes.  It also assists in the organization of league competition, tournaments and tours as well as other related activities and programs.

Notice of BCSSRU Annual General Meeting: Wednesday, May 29th at 6 pm.

This notice is to remind and invite a representative from all member schools to attend the BC Secondary Schools Rugby Union Annual General Meeting (AGM) held during our BC High School Boys Rugby Provincial Championships. As always, this meeting will be held in the upstairs meeting room of the Legacy Centre building in Abbotsford Exhibition Park, across the field from Rotary Stadium.

The meeting will take place at 6 pm on Wednesday, May 29th, and should finish by approximately 7:30 pm. There is no charge to attend this meeting of any kind.

A reminder, this meeting is open to all member schools, not just those which have qualified for the Provincial Championships. Final Notes

  1. Please report all scores via text to Walter van Halst at (778) 855-9937 immediately after your game so that we can get the scores up on the website at www.bcssru.com promptly.

  2. Please email a brief description of your game by 10 pm Friday April 6th if your team plays that day to Howard Tsumura of Varsity Letters at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that it can be included in his report. If your team plays on Saturday, April 7th, please email him your game summary ASAP afterwards. These summaries should include the score, the point scorers and a brief description of the match. Our sport deserves proper coverage and every coach has a role and responsibility to make it happen.

  3. Stadium Series Fees are still unchanged after 4 years at $ 75 per game. A reminder, coaches do not need to bring this with them as we will invoice at the time of the Provincials.

  4. To help cover our costs, teams are reminded that Admission at Swangard Stadium is $ 10 per adult and $ 5 per student. At Centennial Stadium Admission is $ 5 per adult and $ 2 per student. There is no charge at the other venues and please communicate with parents.
