In an all-Island final, Shawnigan Lake defeated defending champions G.P. Vanier 31-5 to claim the BCSSRU Sevens 2011 Cup Championship. They went undefeated during the two-day tournament, which featured eighteen AAA and AA school teams from across British Columbia. The ‘Stags’ were 2-0 in pool play with wins over West Vancouver and Robert Bateman. In the Cup quarter-finals, they downed Argyle 36-12, and edged Oak Bay 31-17 in the final round. Third place went to Oak Bay who defeated Carson Graham 24-15 in the Cup consolation round.
The Plate was lifted by Earl Marriott after a thrilling 17-14 victory over an impressive Cowichan side. The Bowl went to hosts St. George’s, and the Shield travelled to Abbotsford with Robert Bateman. The Peter Clarke Trophy for the Most Sportsmanlike Team was awarded to Argyle from North Vancouver.
